Discover Your Purpose

"I have no idea how I am suppose to contribute to the world?" "I don't think I want the responsibility to serve the world, I can barely take care of myself." "I do not desire to save the world or be the next President." "My purpose is to…"

What thoughts clutter your head, when an inquiry is made about your purpose in this world? Are you clear about your contribution, or are you confused? Are you ready and willing to serve the world, or are you against serving the needs of others? Whatever your case maybe, I say first and foremost, let go. Let go of your anxiety about not knowing. Let go of the seriousness that you have attached to having a purpose. Let go and just be.

I would like to invite you to dance with yourself. Observe your moves and listen to the rhythm you hear within. In what direction are you heading to on the dance floor? What in this world has caught your attention? If you had it your way, what would be different about the world you live in today? War, drugs, domestic violence, child abuse, homelessness, poverty, economy, relationships, religion, education, health care, and general well-being. Whatever strikes a cord with you may be an indication of where you should be heading.

Discovering your purpose can be overwhelming at times, you may wonder what real difference can you truly make. During times like these, I think about the first steps of a baby. A baby actually learns how to walk by taking one step at a time. Let's learn how to walk on our purpose path in the same manner. Start with your first step; help one person, before you begin to think about helping a community, or a nation.

Remember, our life journey is much more enriching when we attend to our needs first, before serving the needs of others. When I think about this concept, I think about the oxygen mask warning they give you on airplanes before take-off. "Please secure your oxygen mask first, before assisting others." That is why we featured "Passion" last month, our hope is that you intertwine your passion and purpose in one complete package. Your passion ignites the flame but it is your purpose that keeps the flame burning. One of our basic human needs is contribution and meaning, so don't deprive yourself of being human, discover your purpose today.

Take care and remember to live life with passion, purpose, power, and peace,
Chinwe
